由基督所赐于人们的救恩，真是反撒殚所引起罪恶的胜利（福音）。对一般具有善心而依靠基督的人，祂必赐以胜利地退去魔鬼攻击的勇力，一如祂本身过去克胜了三次的试探无异。在封斋期内，天主正把赐予我们的这个宠佑，再行恢复或重振。圣教会邀请我们，与来助我们的天主之宠佑加强努力合作。每个基督信徒当以补赎的精神，承受在世一切的艰苦与磨难（书信），使能分享基督的胜利。
连唱咏 Tractus 所采用的圣咏，特地描写在磨难与试探中的信任。内中所包含的，是天主伟大的预许，起初适用于受难的基督，后也适用于那用信德及圣宠于祂连合的一般信徒。

我要走向天主的祭坛。 M. Ad Deum, qui lætíficat iuventútem meam. 走向使我青春常悦的天主。
天主，求祢审判我，辩别我的是非，救我脱离不忠信的百姓，脱离狡诈邪恶的人。 M. Quia tu es, Deus, fortitúdo mea: quare me repulísti, et quare tristis incédo, dum afflígit me inimícus? 天主，祢是我的勇力，为何舍弃我？为何让我在仇敌的压迫下，终日忧伤徘徊？
Judge me, O God, and distinguish my cause from the nation which is not holy: deliver me from the unjust and deceitful man. For Thou, O God, art my strength: why hast Thou cast me off? and why go I sorrowful whilst the enemy afflicteth me?
求祢发出光明和真理，让它们引导我，带我到祢的圣山，到祢的居所。 M. Et introíbo ad altáre Dei: ad Deum, qui lætíficat iuventútem meam. 我要走向天主的祭坛，走向使我青春常悦的天主。
Send forth Thy light and Thy truth: they have conducted me and brought me unto Thy holy mount, and into Thy tabernacles. And I will go in to the altar of God: to God who giveth joy to my youth.
天主，我的天主，我要弹琴赞颂祢。我的灵魂，你为何忧闷，为何在我内烦乱？ M. Spera in Deo, quóniam adhuc confitébor illi: salutáre vultus mei, et Deus meus. 应仰望天主，我仍要赞颂祂，祂是我脸上的救恩，是我的天主。
